FTC investigating ICANN's new gTLDs program

FTC Chairman Leibowitz said near the end of a press conference on January 3, 2013 (announcing the Google settlement), in answering a question, that the FTC is investigating ICANN and its new gTLD program – requiring companies to spend six figure sums for “mostly defensive purposes.”
