WEBINAR: Cross Community Working Group (CWG) On IANA Naming Related Functions: Current Progress and Key Issues - [source: ICANN]:
"Following the request of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) for ICANN to “convene a multistakeholder process to develop a plan to transition the U.S. government stewardship role” with regard to the IANA Functions and related root zone management, a Cross Community Working Group (CWG-Stewardship) was formed with the purpose of developing a consolidated transition proposal for the elements of the IANA Functions relating to domain names... The CWG-Stewardship will present substantial information regarding current progress as well as the key issues under consideration, in order to provide the community a preview in advance of further detailed work during the ICANN 52 Meeting in Singapore."
The CWG-Stewardship is holding two identical webinars at different times to facilitate participation across time zones. The webinars will take place on:
3 February from 14:00 – 15:00 UTC (time zone converter here) 9am EST (US)
3 February from 21:00 – 22:00 UTC (time zone converter here) 4pm EST (US)

The webinars will be run in an Adobe Connect room. (no password needed)

The webinar will be conducted in English and will be recorded and transcribed. Transcripts will be translated in the 5 UN languages and posted on the CWG-Stewardship Wiki here.

You are cordially invited to participate in a webinar session marking the official launch of the NETmundial Initiative. The Initiative’s way forward has been shaped by the feedback collected from the various community dialogues since the NETmundial-inspired meeting hosted by the World Economic Forum in Geneva on 28 August 2014.The Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br), the World Economic Forum (WEF), and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), will discuss these developments, in addition to the role of the multistakeholder NETmundial Initiative in energizing bottom-up, collaborative Internet governance solutions in a distributed ecosystem.

"The Strategy Panel on ICANN's Role in the Internet Governance Ecosystem is reviewing the assumptions, linkages and frameworks that dictate ICANN's responsibilities in the current Internet ecosystem. It seeks insights into ways to maintain and enhance ICANN's stewardship of the evolving ecosystem while cultivating thought leadership on ways in which ICANN can serve a complex set of Internet constituencies.
The Panel's deliverables are:
* Facilitate review of the assumptions, linkages and frameworks that underlie ICANN's responsibilities in the current Internet ecosystem;
* Seek insights on ways to maintain and enhance ICANN's stewardship in an evolving ecosystem; and
* Cultivate thought leadership on ways in which ICANN can serve a complex set of Internet constituencies.
* Provide a set of guiding principles to ensure the successful evolution of ICANN's transnational multistakeholder model in cooperation with national and international bodies;
* Propose a roadmap for evolving and globalizing ICANN's role in the Internet governance ecosystem in consultation with global players; and
* In coordination with the many other global players and ICANN stakeholders, propose a framework for implementation of ICANN's role, objectives and milestones in global Internet governance."
